Matilde’s Dream

Animals in freedom

Self-publishing

Text and illustrations: Alessandra Catalioti

Preface: Francesco Cortonesi

“Freedom is just as important to us as it is to you humans. Being confined in a place we did not choose and that is not our land, just to allow people to watch us, makes us sad. Wouldn’t it be great to see us walking, running, jumping and flying knowing that at that moment we are happy to be where we are?”

“That would be wonderful!” exclaimed Matilde.

Matilde, together with her cat Poldo, will get into a dream: the same dream of Agostino, a little elephant who will let her know far away places. The animals she will meet in her dream will tell her how much they would like to be able to live free in their own lands, instead of confined in zoos, where they are nothing more than attractions for visitors. A dream in which everyone can find their freedom, in the hope that one day it will no longer be just a dream.
